GORD'S LEGACY - A Free Virtual Concert Experience to Honour the Life and Work of Gord Downie

A Free Virtual Concert Experience to Honour the Life and Work of Gord Downie

With the passing of Gord Downie on 17 October 2017, Canadians lost one of our most beloved music icons.

Gord spent his final days shining a light on the reconciliation with this country’s First Peoples. He asked all Canadians to join the call to action and "do something." For the past few years, the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre (PAC) has been honoured to host a group of Canadian artists who have joined our collective reconciliation journey with a concert to promote awareness, education and thoughtful action. This year, with the current realities, we have moved the program online.

The goal of this event is to provide an opportunity for a diverse, cross-section of amateur and professional musicians to share in honouring Gord Downie’s music, poetry and artistic work. This concert has been an opportunity for our community to come together to raise funds in support of the PAC’s ongoing commitment to the Downie Wenjack Fund.

WITH SPECIAL GUESTS: DANNY MICHEL, TOM WILSON, KEVIN FOX, TWIN FLAMES, GREAT LAKE SWIMMERS, MIKE DOWNIE, JOE LAPINSKI, PHIL DAVIS OF OL' CHILD, SERENA AND NICK OF THE MANDEVILLES, MAGNA CUM LOUD WITH DR. PEE FROM GORD DOWNIE'S COUNTRY OF MIRACLES BAND, ANGELA SIRACUSA AND ROB LECLERC, SIMPLY HIP, JULIAN TAYLOR AND MANY MORE FROM NIAGARA'S TALENTED MUSICAL COMMUNITY! CO-HOSTED BY MAYOR WALTER SENDZIK

Campfire Festival - Virtual LIVE event

It started as a way to fill a bad booking weekend in 1998, but now after more than 20 years, the campfire. festival has become the single-biggest way that Passim develops new talent and celebrates the Boston area’s amazing music scene. Originally called, “On the Cutting Edge of the Campfire,” the festival combined the idea of artists sitting around the campfire playing music with our commitment to bringing new talent to discerning listeners.

Today, the campfire. festival is as much about the community as it is about the music. “In the round” performances with songwriters swapping tunes are as common as solo and band sets throughout the course of each day of the festival. Labor Day weekend will be a virtual festival, featuring live and recorded performances from artists all over the world.
